Students from Ss. Peter and Paul gathered on Tuesday to watch the inauguration of President Barack Obama. They joined people from all over the nation – including the estimated two million in Washington D.C. – who tuned in to watch history, as the 44th president took the oath of office.

A poll conducted by the Associated-Press-Knowledge Networks found that 53 percent of those surveyed felt more optimistic about the country’s future after the speech. 15 percent said they felt more pessimistic. Of Republicans polled, 30 percent said they felt more optimistic while 29 percent were more pessimistic.
