James “Jim” W. Young, Sr., 79, of Hannibal, Mo. died at 2:55 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 2, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Pastor John Wesley Davis will officiate. Burial with full military rites by Emmett J. Shields American Legion Post 55 will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be James Young, Louis Young, Matt Davis, Kenny Swank, Alex Young and Bill Young.
Mr. Young was born March 1, 1929, in Eolia, Mo., to Tom T. and Mary M. Bufford Young.
He was married to Jo Ann Foster on Aug. 22, 1952 in Hannibal. She survives.
Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Young; one sister, Gertie Young; one grandson, Lloyd Powell; and one granddaughter, Heavenly Davis.
Other survivors include his children: Barbara Ann Hasty, James W. Young, Jr. (Teresa), Louis Young, Janelle Powell, Regina Mae Young all of Hannibal; one brother, Robert Young of Louisiana, Mo.; nine grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Jim was self-employed as an independent contractor and mechanic for over 30 years. He loved to play music, fish and work in the garage. Jim’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. Mr. Young attended Tabernacle of Praise Church in Hannibal.
