Gladys Frances Foster, 96, of Boonville, passed away at Riverdell Care Center on Sunday, May 4, 2008.
Funeral services for Mrs. Foster will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel in Boonville on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service at 10 a.m. Rev. Mary Harris-Koth will officiate. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Huffman, Jim Waibel, Mike Dee, Eddie Huffman, Jason Comstock and Steven Stewart.
Gladys Bishop was born in Moniteau County June 2, 1911, the daughter of John Bishop and Sudie Groff Bishop. She was married to Marvin Foster on Feb. 27, 1928 in Boonville and they were the parents of eight children. Gladys was a homemaker who was very active in her children’s lives as a leader in the Future Farmers of America and other youth organizations. When she was 90-years-old, she was asked what she did and her answer was, “I am taking care of an old lady.” She was active her whole life and enjoyed playing bingo and visiting the casino. She was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Billingsville.
Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her husband in 1963 and by her three sons, Morris, Gary and Jerry Foster and by a daughter, Frances Stewart. Two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, five brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Phoebe LeGrant of Boonville, Rosa L. Oliveros and husband George of Richmond, Va., Mary Ann and Clyde Stewart and Janet and Jim Waibel of Boonville and a daughter in law, Emma Foster of Dayton, Ohio. She also leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
