Leola Hurt, 71, of Boonville died Thursday at Cooper County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Matthew AME Church in Boonville with Rev. Wayne Jones officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Boonville.

Leola Hurt was born Sept. 18, 1936 in Bunceton, the daughter of Leo Roland and Jerneal Margaret Rollins. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Bunceton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister. Survivors include three sons: Henry Hurt, James Hurt and David Hurt, all of Boonville; three daughters: Valerie Debbie Moore of Jefferson City, Mo., Thelma Quint and Ophelia Thornton, both of Boonville; five brothers: James Jackson and Russell Jackson, both of Boonville; Homer Cowans, Jr. of Arkansas, Chris Cowans of Potosi, Mo. and Jack Cowans of Jefferson City; five sisters: Anna Graham, Eunice Wright, Alberta Jackson, Margie Butler and Trina Cowans, all of Boonville; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
