Mary M. Bowlus, 95, of Holton, Kan. died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at The Pines nursing facility in Holton.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 2 at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Topeka, Kan. Mary will lie in state at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton where a parish rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, followed by visitation.

She was born Sept. 6, 1912 in Topeka, the daughter of Ralph and Margaret Theureling Bowlus. She moved from Topeka to Missouri in 1984 and from there to Holton in 1994.
Mary was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton, and the Altar Society and Mary Ann Circle at the Church. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella in Boonville.

She had worked for Woolworth’s in Topeka for seven years and for Blue Cross and Blue Shield for almost twenty-five years.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, John Bowlus and a sister, Sophia Herman.

Survivors include one sister, Hazel Hawley, of Holton; nine nieces and nephews, sixteen great-nieces and nephews and ten great-great nieces and nephews.
