Dorothy Fidelis Jobe, of Boonville and formerly of New Franklin, Mo. passed away May 13, 2008 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2008 at Bible Baptist Church in New Franklin with Rev. Rodney Haggett officiating. Burial will follow at Peninsula Cemetery near Blackwater, Mo. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin.
She was born in Louisana, Mo. on Feb. 5, 1934 a daughter of George James and Rebecca Jane Riley Shearon. She married Roy Eugene Jobe on Sept. 1, 1951 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2002.
Mrs. Jobe was a member of Bible Baptist Church in New Franklin where she had served as a nursery worker and as a Sunday school teacher. She had been employed at Selwyn Shoe Factory, Bobbin Heel Factory, as a nurse’s aid at Colonial Gardens and at the time of her retirement she was employed with Nordyne all of Boonville. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and collecting kerosene lamps and stamps.
Besides her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Michael Dean Jobe; five brothers, Jimmy, George, Charles, Phillip and Evertt Shearon; three sisters, Laura Fay Shearon, Alta Benton and Barbara April; and by a grandson, James Michael Jobe.
Survivors include five children, Donny Eugene Jobe of New Franklin, Jimmy Leroy Jobe of Harrisonville, Mo., Dorothy Felten of New Franklin, Janis Mendez of Boonville and Martha Ann Miller of Midway, Mo. Other survivors include three sisters, Laura Agnes Murphy, Yvonne Wood and Daisy Brockman. She also leaves eighteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
