A proposed regional agreement with the Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation would enable Boonville to continue a tradition of business growth, the president of the Boonville Industrial Development Authority said this week.

“IDA’s role won’t change a whole heck of a lot,” Ned Beach said Tuesday as he pointed out projects that he said have happened in Boonville since 1988 with the help of his group and that of several of the city’s former economic development directors.

Beach said Corey Mehaffy, of the Moberly group, didn’t tell the council anything that it hasn’t already heard from the IDA during a work session Monday. But he said Mehaffy’s experience and his group’s recent success in bringing the company Mamtek to Moberly prompted attendees at the meeting to receive the message in a new way.
