In fewer than three weeks, Village of Windsor Place residents and nearby property owners will go to the polls April 6 and vote on whether the community can expand its corporate boundaries to the north of Interstate 70.

Registered voters living in the village, located about three miles southeast of Boonville, and those residing in or owning property within a nearby proposed expansion site will be voting on the issue, Cooper County Clerk Darryl Kempf said. In order for the annexation measure to pass, more than 50 percent of voters from both of those groups favoring it.  If one of the groups fails to reach more than 50 percent approval, the measure would not pass.

Boonville residents and Cooper County citizens who do not live within the proposed annexation area will not vote on the measure.

If voters favor the proposition, the grounds northwest* of the I-70 and Highway 87 overpass will join with the village. Other areas that could be annexed under the proposition include a section of I-70, the Highway 87 overpass and a stretch of highway between the village and the proposed annexation area.

*Editor's note: An earlier caption for the image depicting the boundaries of the Village of Windsor Place incorrectly identified the boundaries of the village and the proposed annexation area. The light shading represent the current boundaries; the dark shading represents the proposed annexation area.

Additionally, an article on page 1 March 17 on the proposed Village of Windsor Place annexation incorrectly stated the area proposed as part of the annexation. The area includes  parcels of land and a stretch of Highway 87 north of the highway-Interstate 70 overpass, a stretch of the highway  to the south of the overpass and a stretch of I-70 to the west of the overpass.
