Nearing completion

WalMart
By Amber Christian
Only 48 days remain until WalMart Supercenter opens it’s doors to customers. Approximately 50 percent of shelving is complete in the retail area. Strives are being made to make the building environmentally friendly. Sky lighting, low-fill toilets and automatic faucets have been installed to make the building more “green.”

Boonville, Mo. -

The following is a brief of the story. For the full version, see the Thursday, July 2 print edition of the BDN.

Some say it won’t get here soon enough and some say it never should have come at all; but everyone can agree on one thing. It’s here.

In spite of opposition that surrounded the proposal of a WalMart Supercenter which surfaced in 2005, Boonville consumers will soon have more of a choice in where to shop. Rallies that were held opposing the retail giant are a distant memory now.

After four years of planning and the inconvenience of road closures and construction that it took to get the infrastructure built, Boonville has forty-eight days to go till shopping the WalMart Supercenter becomes a reality.
