Backhoe causes power outage

According to Boonville Police Department Lt. Bob Welliver, a backhoe has caused a minor power outage along Jefferson Road.

Welliver said earlier this afternoon, a backhoe driver accidently drove the machine into a utility pole causing the power lines to fall.

Local emergency crews were called to the scene as a precaution while Ameren UE crews worked to fix the damage. Welliver said power is out to a few homes but should be restored shortly.

The outage is in the area of 1200 Jefferson Road.
