The following is a brief of the story. For the full version, see the Wednesday, May 27 print edition of the BDN.
This summer, Central Missouri Community Action will be a lead agency in Governor Nixon’s Next Generation Jobs Team for Mid-Missouri. The project is expected to employ 6,000 young Missourians to gain experience in high-demand industries. At the local level, the Central Region Workforce Investment Board (C-WIB) will administer the program and provide oversight to CMCA as they provide employment placements to youth between the ages of 14 and 24 in its 8-county service area.
CMCA will be providing guidance and supervision to youth in Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Howard, Moniteau and Osage counties. Not only will they be receiving valuable on-the-job training through a local employer, CMCA will provide assessment and job readiness resources to insure that the job matches will be positive for both the employer and the employee.
This project will emphasize placements in Green Energy, Technology, Health Care, Life Sciences, and other high growth industries. As a result, participants will receive a meaningful experience that will prepare them to compete for the careers of tomorrow.
Youth interested in participating in this project may apply at the Cooper County Family Resource Center located at 401 E. High Street in Boonville. For additional information contact 882-5601.
