Cooper County Clerk Darryl Kempf knows the community and the county. Kempf said his job is a multi-person one.
“It is my co-workers’ work and constant ability to keep the office running. Tammi Windsor works with commissioners on office activities, Julie Doerr handles all accounts payable and handles payroll and Marcia Imhoff, being the elections expert, handles all attributes of any election,” Kempf said.
- What is a day like for you here at the courthouse?
“My day will start off with an agenda in my head of which I will like to follow, but then we may get calls that throw that agenda off, therefore starting a whole new agenda,” Kempf said.
Kempf also said that many days are filled with certain tasks, such as getting county budgets ready to propose to county commissioners and preparing most paper work for the courthouse.
“It takes multiple days for our office to prepare the budget with the approved numbers. We have to get payroll adjusted, deal with government and insurance changes and work with cities, schools and fire districts during elections,” Kempf said.
Kempf mentioned that one of the most important items about being clerk is getting voters the necessities to vote.
