A Boonville salon owner and her family are staying elsewhere after a fire at their Rocheport house on Sunday, a salon employee said Thursday.
Aletha Odneal said Stephanie Cooper, owner of Designing Women, and her family are staying with Cooper’s brother. People have been asking how they can help, and work was being done to get those details, Odneal said.
No one was injured in the blaze, including Cooper, her husband, Brian, and their two children, said Division Chief Gale Blomenkamp of the Boone County Fire Protection District, which worked with the Cooper County Fire Protection District at the scene.
The house isn’t a complete loss, though the fire resulted in an estimated $50,000 in structural and property damage, and it will need a new roof and rafters, he said. Water damage also occurred. Friends, neighbors and firefighters removed objects from the house — including the contents of a bedroom and a big-screen TV — to save them, Blomenkamp said.
