Issues that have plagued Cooper County Memorial Hospital for years were the topic at Wednesday's board meeting.

Issues such as billing, according to chief executive Alan Waldo, are improving greatly and revenue is improving as well.

An ongoing issue with Blue Cross Blue Shield about claim payments was a big topic of discussion between the administration and the board of the directors.

Revenue Cycle Director Ron Wallace said that the hospital is dealing with an issue that required the hospital to pay back  $168,000 to the insurance company. Wallace said Blue Cross also owes the hospital $340,000.

The board decided  to repay their debt to Blue Cross on a monthly basis. It is unclear at this time whether the hospital will see any of it's $340,000.
