Blackwater held their first ever two-day Fall Fest over the weekend. In year’s past the event has run on Saturday only but with extra events, they were able to expand to Sunday as well. One of the new events was the Native American Cultural Demonstration by Littlehorse Drum. There were demonstrations on cultural dress and performances of cultural music and dance. There were also plenty of opportunities for people to get Christmas shopping in at the many antique and craft booths that were set up around town. Blackwater was also able to use their newly renovated Depot during the event, using it to house the quilt show.
The 40th annual Heritage Craft Festival held Saturday and Sunday in Arrow Rock featured historical crafts and demonstrations including spinning, weaving, blacksmithing, broom- and basket-making, flintknapping, rug-hooking, quilting, candle-dipping, applebutter-making and many other 19th century arts & crafts. This year's festival welcomed some of Missouri's finest craftspeople demonstrating the arts of today including modern ceramics and pottery, glass, basketry, fiber art, sterling and pewter wares, jewelry, and paintings in varied mediums. Also new this year: food products made or grown in Missouri. Local restaurants and shops, plus food vendors, live entertainment, fall flowers and pumpkins set the mood for a unique shopping and educational experience.
