Glasgow plans bridge closing festival Aug. 2

The City of Glasgow and Glasgow Chamber of Commerce along with the Missouri Department of Transportation will be sponsoring a bridge closing festival on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008. The bridge will be closed for 12 months during the bridge’s rehabilitation. The new bridge will be wider and have no vertical restrictions as shown in the photo.

Glasgow, Mo. -

The City of Glasgow and Glasgow Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will be sponsoring a bridge closing festival on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008. Plans so far will include a parade, festivities at Stump Island Park, a small museum to be set up with memorabilia of the bridge, Air Force fly over and many dignitaries on hand.


All area organizations are invited to participate in the parade (starting at 12 noon) with either marching bands, floats, car clubs, motorcycle clubs, equestrian clubs, civic organizations, school organizations, candidates for election, etc.
