In an effort to improve the city of Boonville’s public water system, an engineer will examine its infrastructure and identify potential projects.

The city received a $45,000 grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources as part of federal stimulus funding to hire the engineer.

One of the areas the engineer will examine is a distribution problem throughout the city. Boonville public works director M.L. Cauthon said there are points where the age of the valving insulation forces the city to shut off several blocks in the event of a leak. Improvement could be made to isolate the leak spot.
