Veteran educator and school administrator James N. (Jay) Webster of Columbia, Mo., has been appointed vice president for campus life at Central Methodist University, announced CMU President Marianne E. Inman.

Webster, an alumnus of Central Methodist University, currently is the principal of Boonville R-1 School District High School and has 30 years of experience as an educator, administrator and coach with Missouri public schools.

As vice president for campus life, he will replace Richard Davis, who has been serving as interim vice president for campus life during the 2009-10 school year. Davis, a retired public school superintendent, agreed to temporarily take the position when it came open last spring. Webster will begin his new duties July 1. He will oversee the CMU Office of Student Development, admission and enrollment management, and the university’s intercollegiate athletics program. He will also carry the titles of dean of students and director of athletics.
