Boonville Heritage Days organizers announce latest schedule

The Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Heritage Days Festival was recently voted as Best Festival for Central Missouri.

The central region is comprised of 19 counties.

This is the 10th annual Best of Rural Missouri contest sponsored by Rural Missouri, a publication of Missouri’s Rural Electric Cooperatives. More than half a million rural electric cooperative members were asked to vote for their favorite food and places throughout the Show-Me State.

PROFESSIONAL ART SHOW

Zuzak Wonder Store, 311 Main Street

10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

"Heritage Art" an exhibit in the front windows, including works by  many artists depicting aspects of heritage that are important to them.

Featured Artists Lloyd and Ann Grotjan will show photography and ceramics in the Front Gallery.

The exhibit "Three Visionary "Outsider" Folk Painters:  R. A. Miller, Purvis Young, and T. Marie Nolan" continues. (These works are from a private collection, and most are not for sale.)

Over 25 artists from the Boonslick Region exhibit and sell their work  at the Zuzak Wonder Store.

6 p.m. – 12, Hain House Gardens, 412 Fourth Street, Wine Tasting $15, Includes four tastings and full glass of wine. Keep commemorative glass. Missouri Wineries are Cooper’s Oak Winery, Higbee/Boonville; St James Winery, St. James, MO; Chaumette, Ste. Genevieve, Mo. Dinner $12.50; Includes steak, potato, salad, roll, water, soda or tea. Dinner served 6 -9 p.m.

Entertainment: 7:00-10:00 PM, Friday, Joel Anderson (3-piece jazz band performing primarily jazz standards recognizable to a wide audience); 7 p.m.-12, Saturday, River City Singers (Local Boonville group of four, sing music from the 50s to contemporary, top 40 hits of today. Perform great music with incredible harmonies.)

Apache Attack Helicopter will end our parade and be on display at Kemper Park till 4:00 p.m. The Apache Attack Helicopter is from  the 1st Attack Battalion, Whiteman Air Force Base.  Pilot in Command is Chief Warrant Officer 4 Marcus Moore.

BBQ CONTEST

7:00 AM Grilling starts, 11:00 AM Judging, Parking Lot East of Hain House. $2 per person to enter BBQ area. 10 & under free. Sides & soda available for purchase. The public will vote by giving $1 to the cook for each rib eaten. The cook with the most dollars is the winner. Bragging rights and plaques will be awarded to 1st & 2nd place.
