Boonville City Council is expected to vote on a proposed subsidized housing project at its July 6 meeting, Mayor Julie Thacher said Monday.
At a public hearing before Monday’s council meeting, several people expressed concerns about the effect Kemper Village Homes might have on property-tax revenue, whether the project would bring jobs to mid-Missouri and the site’s proximity to the Katy Trail.
The site, which would be located on Ashley Road, would feature 32 houses available to those who make 60 percent or less of the Cooper County median family income, and eight homes to people of any income level.
Also on Monday, the council:
- approved the final site plan for the new Boonville Fire Station, which will be located at the intersection of Main Street and Bingham Road.
- agreed to write a letter in support of a proposed new library building in Boonville with the condition that officials re-examine the possibility of relocating the facility to the old Kemper Military School.
