Boonville’s troop care campaign kicks off

Donations may be dropped off at local businesses.

Donations for the Boonville Cares for Our Troops campaign are now being accepted by local businesses  through the 4th of July when they will be packaged and sent off to the troops. Items needed range from sport drinks to over-the-counter medications. A detailed list of needed items will be released when the collections begin.


The Retail Committee of the Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce is coordinating the campaign to collect items to make and send care packages to troops serving overseas.
Cash donations are also being accepted to help with the cost of shipping the donated items.

Care package suggestions


Sports drinks, Kool-Aid® (presweetened), individual boxes of cereal, granola bars or nutrition bars, oatmeal, popcorn balls, instant coffee, fast food condiments (ketchup, hot sauce, mustard, etc.), dried fruit, spices, tea bags, single serving bagged chips, crackers and Easy Cheese®, beef jerkey, nuts, instant soup, marshmellows.


Practical items


Baby wipes, after shave lotion, mouth wash, deodorant, cotton swabs or cotton balls, towels, sun block, tylenol, ibuprofen, hand-held or clip-on fan, travel alarm, Desitin®, combs/brushes, contact lens cleaner, show insole cushions, femine products, razors, shaving cream, liquid hand sanitizer, shampoo and conditioner, nail clippers, t-shirts and underwear, Chapstick®, lotion, sewing kit, dental floss, baby powder, foot powder, breath mints, eye drops, plastic storage bags, flea collars.


Just for fun items


Stress ball, AA or AAA batteries, yoyo, jump rope, postcards, portable CD player, ear phones, games, cards, paper, envelopes, pens, balloons, books, magazines, word puzzles, disposable cameras, journals, frisbees and hackey sacks, small flashlights, joke or comic books, mini fans, DVDs.
