The sign at the Boonville McDonald's, 490 Americana, is undergoing a facelift.

A crew from Columbia Sign Service were working on the sign, designed to lure passers-by on I-70 to the restaurant, on Thursday afternoon.

The signs, explained a crew member from Columbia Sign Service, are basically two parts: the namesake "golden arches," as well as the "box," the red rectangle beneath the arches. On Thursday, the crew replaced the arches.

Both will eventually be replaced, he explained, but it likely won't be done until the summer.

A manager from McDonald's declined to comment.
