The Boonville School District has taken on a number of projects this summer. One project is the Highway 5 road work, in front is Boonville High School. Crews have been working on improving the road to handle the increase of traffic expected with the addition of Hannah Cole Primary to the complex. Moving an entire elementary school into HCP is another project being undertaken by the district.

The following is a brief of the story. For the full version, see the Tuesday, July 21 print edition of the BDN.

School may be out for Boonville students, but staff of the school district have been hard at work making sure that everything is ready when classes resume next month.

“There’s been pain with progress at times,” said superintendent Mark Ficken during Monday’s school board meeting. Still, he said he appreciates the flexibility the staff has had.

There are a number of large projects within the district, one of which is moving an entire school into the brand new Hannah Cole Primary building. The school, built by Septagon Construction, is complete and has been turned over to teachers and staff. They are now busy making sure classrooms are ready for the first day of school on Aug. 18.

On Sunday, Aug. 9 beginning at 3:30 p.m. there will be an open house for the community to tour the new building.
