The following is a brief of the story. For the full version, see the Tuesday, Sept. 8 print edition of the BDN.
Parents in the Prairie Home R-V School District will soon have a new way to monitor their children’s progress in school with Common Goal Systems’ TeacherEase gradebook. TeacherEase is one component of a new student information management system the district will be using called SchoolInsight. The web-based system will be used in the district to take attendance, do required reporting to the state, track discipline issues, manage the lunch program and save time in a number of other areas.
Prairie Home R-V tested the system for effectiveness and ease of use during the 2008-2009 school year and for 2009-2010, has decided to move forward with implementation of the SchoolInsight system.
Darin Nichols, Principal of Prairie Home R-V High School, indicated that the district wanted to replace their old student information management system for several reasons.
“We really wanted to provide more lines of communication with parents in our district. Parents will be able to access data online about their students, which will allow parents to better work with the district to help their students succeed. The data is real time, and in addition, teachers will be provided with easy to use tools to help students increase test scores and work to their full potential,”
Nichols said.
