Board members approved the purchase of a new school bus in Thursday night’s regular monthly meeting. Although some details are pending, the decision was made to go forward with the purchase because of a June 30 deadline after which time the purchase would not be eligible for the state’s transportation reimbursement program. The district currently has five buses in service, one of which is experiencing serious mechanical failure and will be removed from service. A decision regarding the fate of the old bus is also pending.
Members of the board toured the grounds prior to the meeting to assess maintenance and repair issues to be addressed as summer projects. Among projects discussed was the replacement of doors in the cafeteria and erosion problems in driveways.
The next regular meeting of the board will be held on June 12.
