Ss. Peter and Paul School announced the establishment of a distinguished service award to honor and recognize long-time volunteer Wanda Wells. The award was presented Friday night at the 8th grade Graduation Mass at Ss. Peter and Paul Church.
Wells has volunteered for the school on a daily basis for more than 20 years in numerous capacities. She has worked as a substitute, as a teacher aide, a tutor and a secretary and has taken on numerous special projects such as grant writing tasks and public relations.
“Wanda’s commitment to Ss. Peter and Paul and her spirit of volunteerism is truly inspirational for all of us, regardless of age,” said Lori Imhoff, school board president.
“Wanda sets an example of Christian service that all of us would do well to emulate,” said Alan Lammers, principal. “She never hesitates to say yes when asked to help,” he added. Lammers also said that Wells does her best to avoid any recognition. “This award is part of her legacy at Ss. Peter and Paul,” he commented.
In addition to recognizing Wells, the award also is established to recognize those individuals who put forth extensive time and effort on behalf of the school.
