Boonville student advances to state geography bee

Boonville-

Rory Concannon, an eighth grade student at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School, has advanced to the state-level competition of the National Geographic Bee.

Concannon had previously won the Saints Peter and Paul Geographic Bee in January and took a written exam to determine eligibility for the state competition on April 9, 2010 at Moberly Area Community College. There he will join only 99 other student participants from the state of Missouri who qualified in the preliminary rounds.   One winner from this round will advance to the National Competition to be held in Washington, D.C. in May. 

Since 1960 Rory is the ninth student to qualify at the state level from Saints Peter and Paul School.  Rory is the son of Stephen Concannon and Kristina Hahn.
