A 2010-11 tax levy approved Wednesday should free up about $120,000 in the Boonville R-1 School District’s budget that can be used for expenses in areas such as transportation and health services, Superintendent Mark Ficken said.
The Boonville School Board voted 5-1 to accept Ficken’s total proposed levy of $4.23 per $100 of assessed valuation.
Board member Brenda Campbell voted against the proposal after expressing concerns that the debt service levy, included in the total figure, might be in excess of a voter-approved cap.
Also on Wednesday, the board:
- unanimously adopted a local compliance plan with state regulations for special education.
- approved 2010-11 nonresident tuition and noneligible transportation fees, keeping them at 2009-10 levels.
- approved the Laura Speed Elliott Middle School Handbook.
