Nothing goes better with breakfast than a little bit of history. Whether you yearn for the elegant victorian age, nods to the Civil War era or old-fashioned, down-home comforts, there’s a bed-and-breakfast in Boonville to satisfy each of those fancies.
As the city’s tourist offerings have grown in recent years — Cooper’s Oak Winery and Anheuser Busch’s Warm Springs Ranch have moved in during the last year — Boonslick residents have followed suit and converted houses into inns for guests. In the last five years, three bed-and-breakfast locales have opened within city limits.
The Garden Gate Bed and Breakfast was the first. The property on Main Street was built in the 1920s, the inn’s website states.
The inn offers a romantic getaway package priced at $225 that includes a gold-dipped rose and a bottle of champagne, and “tea for three,” a women’s weekend which features a tea party and a “girlfriends brunch,” priced at $135 per person. Basic room rates start at $125.
At the High Street Victorian Bed and Breakfast, all guests receive a multi-course breakfast, afternoon snacks and evening hors d’œuvres, said Kriss Royer, who operates the bed-and-breakfast with her husband, Gene.
Room rates start at $105 per night, and the couple also offer a romantic getaway package for an extra $50 per night.
The Hannah Cole Cottage began taking guests a few weeks ago. It is intended to be a second home for guests, with a refrigerator stocked with the supplies needed for breakfast so overnighters can have the place to themselves.
The cottage at 1209 E. Morgan St. accomodates up to seven people, with one or two people charged $115 and each additional person charged $20.
