As summer draws near, the Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for increased support from local businesses to order to continue drawing larger numbers of visitors from the Katy Trail.
In its June newsletter, the Chamber reported the Katy Trail is “proving to be as popular as ever in 2008” as students from the University of Missouri-Rolla rode the trail after finishing with their finals for the semester. According to the newsletter, this was the student group’s third year to make the trip and they hoping to make it an annual tradition. In addition, the second Elser Hostel group of the season also rode the Katy Trail in May with 17 people participating.
