Boonville’s Remington Hammers, Gabe Rumbaoa and Ben Rumbaoa, representing Eierman Elite Wrestling Club out of Millersburg, Missouri, were among those who participated in the Fulton Youth Wrestling Tournament, which featured over 300 wrestlers from the central portion of the state, on Saturday.
Gabe Rumbaoa placed first in the 10-and-under, 130-pound weight class. He defeated Scott Farley of Blair Oaks by fall in 1:41 and then beat Trenton Ousley of Versailles by a fall in 57 seconds. Rumbaoa is currently ranked third in the Missouri USA Wrestling polls and is undefeated at 4-0 thus far.
Ben Rumbaoa also finished first in the 14-and-under, 125-pound weight class. Rumbaoa also pinned both of his opponents. He defeated Dallas Hoelscher of Blair Oaks by fall in 3:35 and then beat Ian Fitzpatrick of the Timberwolves Wrestling Club out of Foristell, Missouri by fall in 2:29.
This was Rumbaoa’s initial youth wrestling tournament of this young season, having recently finished 22-1 for the LSE Hawks during this past middle school wrestling season.
Remington Hammers, who also competes for Eierman Elite in the 12-and-under, 75-pound weight class, did not fare as well this past weekend. In his round-robin bracket, Hammers lost all of his matches by falls to Damon Jones of the Jefferson City Jays, Dylan Gaines of the Jefferson City Tri-Cap club, Carter Wolfe of the Timberwolves and Tyler Eckman of the Jaguars of O’Fallon, Missouri.
