The Boonville Daily News has been named the overall winner in the Yahoo HotJobs Small Market Contest for GateHouse Media's northern region.

Eighty-two GateHouse newspapers nationwide participated in the contest over the course of four rounds, and 14 Missouri papers participated, BDN advertising manager Mike Kellner said. The advertising department learned of the win on Wednesday. While the contest was close, the level of service provided by BDN classified advertising consultant Karen Rugg had an effect on the outcome, Kellner said.

The overall winner designation was based on such factors as the level of customer service a newspaper provided and staff participation in training sessions aimed at equipping staff with the best possible level of expertise for clients, Kellner said.
