A partnership among cities along the path of the old Santa Fe Trail will receive the help of state and national agencies in its efforts to promote tourism in the region.
The Old Trails Regional Tourism Partnership aims to boost the economies of rural communities in mid-Missouri. Business owners would promote wines, artisan cheeses and other items that are unique to the community with a title that is only available to products from that region.
The organization was one of two chosen among six in Missouri to participate in Stronger Economies Together, a program in which the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the MU Extension evaluate the area and offer suggestions.
The announcement took place last week at the historic J. Huston Tavern in Arrow Rock.
