The Boonville City Council approved the city’s 2010 tax rate at a meeting Monday, keeping it at the 2009 level.

The council unanimously approved the rate after appearing divided on whether to raise the rate from 65 cents to 67 cents at its last meeting.

Also on Monday, the council:
 — considered transferring inspections of food establishments in Boonville to the Cooper County Public Health Department. No decision was made.
— learned that the city’s funds will now be held at the UMB Bank instead of Alliant Bank. City officials solicited proposals from it and other local banks. City Administrator Irl Tessendorf said the banks had to provide a pledge of security to insure amounts over $250,000 in order to be considered. Alliant did not offer a pledge and was eliminated from consideration.
