A C&R supermarket van stolen in broad daylight Tuesday has been recovered in Howard County, according to Boonville Police Department Detective Randy Ayers.
The maintenance van, which carried several hundred dollars worth of repair equipment, made a brief stop at the Boonville C&R supermarket at about 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The service technician driving the van planned on spending less than five minutes in the store, but returned to find his vehicle missing.
“The Boonville Police Department has been very helpful during this process,” said Mark Thomas, owner of C&R markets.
Police located the vehicle early Wednesday morning. They are currently pursuing a lead, but no arrests have been made in this case.
“At this point, we have no idea why someone would do this,” Ayers said.
The recovered van was still functional and didn’t show any outward signs of major damage.
