Boonville’s Main Street was used as a bypass for I-70 traffic after an accident closed the busy freeway on the Missouri River Bridge near Rocheport.
Traffic was diverted Tuesday morning, prompting heavy traffic to come through the town for several hours. With heavier than normal traffic, came more semi traffic as well. To help with traffic congestions, Boonville lights have programs that assist in keeping traffic flowing with less stops. Though it is not known if this traffic program was used yesterday, it indeed has been used in the last couple months to deal with congestion, especially during the eclipse.
Upon the writing of this article the Missouri Highway Patrol had yet to make an official release of the accident.
