COOPER COUNTY – Darryl Kempf, who served as the Cooper County Clerk for more than three decades, pleaded guilty to a class C misdemeanor of stealing on Friday.

Kempf was placed on unsupervised probation for a period of two years after an investigation by the Missouri Attorney General’s Office looked into some suspicious purchases by Kempf. He is being required to pay court costs, pay restitution in the amount of $4,843.20 to Cooper County and $797.78 to the Department of Revenue and return all county property.

Kempf also resigned his post as the clerk, pending a replacement to be announced soon.
