For years, the Festival of the Lights has helped raise money for the local food pantries. Doing this has given light to families in need within the community.
While the light may not be noticeable to some, the money raised by buying representative light bulbs for $1 has brightened up the lives for many.
Local businesses are selling these (paper) bulbs, where individuals can print their name on them. They are then placed in the windows of those respective businesses, signifying the support given by the community. The greater the coverage, the greater amount of families that will be impacted.
In past years, it has become a tradition to vye for the most paper light bulbs sold and at the end, there is an award to that business. But, in the end, it all goes to those in need.
