After misuse of the yard waste site at the Boonville City Services Building, city crews have closed the site until further notice.
“Persistent abuse by illegal dumping at the site has forced this action. The site is clearly posted with a sign indicating that only yard waste is allowed,” a release from Boonville Public Works Director M.L. Cauthon stated.
The site has been used primarily for residents who want to dispose of their tree limbs or yard waste, especially after a large storm. And while the facility will be closed for resident use, Boonville City crews will still pick up waste in designated areas.
City officials stress that the site is not to be used for architectural disposal or anything that is not from the yard.
Once someone violates the rules, everyone suffers the consequences, which has also been the outcome at Lion’s Park with the vandalism recently.
