On July 1, Cathy Birk became Boonslick Regional Library’s (BRL) Branch Supervisor of Boonville.

Birk started her career at the BRL in August 2015 as a Clerk 1.

“I always enjoyed reading as a kid. So when this position became available, I jumped at the chance.”

A year later Birk was promoted to Clerk 2.

This year, when the branch supervisor’s position became available, Birk was the logical choice.

“I’m really excited about this promotion,” she said. “I still have a lot to learn, but I really enjoy working with the library patrons and serving the community. I’m happy for the opportunity to be part of the library’s future plans.”

The library is in the middle of their Summer Reading program which will continue as scheduled. Although the program won’t end until July 31, the party will be on July 28. Besides cake and ice cream, Marty the Magician is expected to put in an appearance.

The next biggest thing at the library is the Solar Eclipse. Patrons, please note, the library will be closed for one hour that afternoon so branch employees can enjoy this once in a lifetime event.
