The West Boonville Community Club presented the Boonville Friends of the Library with a check for $7,533 this past week for funds to be used for a future new library facility.

After the sale of the club building (also known as the schoolhouse on Clear Springs Drive in Western Cooper County), the members decided to give the proceeds to local organizations, especially those that helped children and the area’s educational needs in the community.

While 10 different causes were chosen, the library was chosen because of the impact it has on local students. The library provides free internet and youth programs that greatly increase the knowledge and learning level of the area’s youth.

As the library continues its plans for a future facility, the club hopes the funds can be used for items that can be used in this new facility such as computers and desks.

The West Boonville Community Center once was a gathering place for events west of Boonville and for area residents to gather for special occasions.

More information to be released soon.
