New Franklin, known as the mother of the Santa Fe Trail, will host events during the August 21 Complete Solar Eclipse.

While the Katy Roundhouse Campgrounds are already booked, the city has opened up the city park to house primitive camping during the event.

Communities around the area are planning events to coincide to an event that has not occurred in the area for quite some time. Deemed a once in a lifetime event, thousands of people will be flocking to the area to experience the event. For New Franklin, Boonville and Blackwater, they will serve as ground zero for the complete experience.

As New Franklin gears up to accept visitors, ideas are being spread around regarding activities to help accommodate the population influx. A pancake breakfast, bonfire and others could be planned.

More detailed information will be released regarding what area communities are doing during this large event.
