BOONVILLE – The Boonville Police Department responded to a plane crash at Jesse Viertel Airport on Wednesday. No major injuries were reported.
At approximately 7:20 p.m. a 911 call was made in reference to a plane crash at the Boonville Airport located at 20044 Pearre Lane.
Boonville Police, Boonville Fire and Cooper County Fire were dispatched. Emergency personnel arrived and located a single prop experimental plane turned over on the runway. The male pilot and only occupant, was located away from the plane and was not injured. He was checked by medical personnel as a precaution. The pilot does have a certified pilot license.
The pilot reported he left the runway and reached approximately 100 feet before engine failure. The pilot was able to bring the plane back down onto the runway. As the plane landed the pilot could not control it and the plane turned over. The pilot was able to free himself from his safety harness and move to safety.
The Federal Aviation Administration was contacted and informed of the crash.
