The Boonville City Council welcomed back one familiar face and said farewell to one two-term councilwoman.

Becky Ehlers was given a plaque for her service to the city after she chose not to run again for the ward three council seat during the Tuesday evening Sine Dine Meeting. Ehlers had served two terms, or four full years on the council – even as Boonville Mayor Pro-tem for two of those years. Boonville Mayor Julie Thacher was very appreciative for her service to the city and reminded the council that Ehlers had entered her first race contested, which is rare.

Boonville long-term councilman Morris Carter was unanimously voted to be the new mayor pro-tem. Carter accepted the position and will serve as the acting mayor when Thacher is away from the city.

The council discussed the Central Missouri Cancer Memorial Park. Status of the park was discussed, including the fact that the park committee is getting final plans drawn up to show area residents the final plan for the park. Currently, volunteers will be cleaning up the area until the final plan can be approved. Once this is complete, the park can be finished.
