The Glasgow boys and girls basketball teams learned last night on the road against the Madison Panthers that nothing is ever guaranteed.

Although the Glasgow boys and girls may have been heavily favored entering the game, they were both put to the test on the Panthers’ homecourt. The Lady Yellowjackets defeated Madison 47-34 while the Glasgow boys held off a pesky Panther team for a 59-51 triumph.

Glasgow girls basketball coach Molly Monnig said the game was very physical all four quarters. “We struggled getting shots to fall in the third quarter, but we continued to play good defense,” Monnig said. “We made a run early in the fourth quarter to closeout the game.”

The Lady Yellowjackets, improving to 18-3 overall and 8-1 in the CAC, led Madison 14-8 after one, 28-19 at the half and 34-27 after three quarters of play. Meanwhile, in the final period, Glasgow outscored Madison 13-7.

Nikki Fuemmeler finished the game with a double-double for Glasgow with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Trisha McMillan and Abby Thompson each had 11 points while Erin Reynolds added six points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals, Peyton Davis with five points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals and Alex Davis with two assists.

For Madison, Staci Harlow tossed in 23 points.

As for the Glasgow boys, they led Madison 15-11 after one and 30-28 at the half. Meanwhile, in the second half, the Yellowjackets outscored Madison 29-23 to win the game by eight.

Glasgow coach Mick Cropp said it was a struggle all night. “Everytime we would get a little breathing room, Madison would go on a run and get back into the game,” Cropp said. “We did very little particularly well except get the win and at this time we will take it on the road.”

Senior Dillon Yung had 20 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the game for Glasgow, who improved to 18-3 overall and 8-1 in the CAC.

Blake Hackman chipped in 12 points while Reid Littrell added 10 points and eight rebounds.
For Madison, Tylor Milner had 17 points and Cody Hendren 14.
