Arrowrock, Mo. -

Soggy grounds and intermittent rain weren’t enough to deter determined gardeners and sight-seers who attended the annual Spring Garden Show held Saturday in Arrow Rock. The event drew people from the mid-Missouri area as well as from the state’s outer edges, including two families from Kansas City and St. Louis.

“We often meet to go to performances at the Lyceum,” said Anne Mera of south Kansas City. She said she and her husband Jim will meet his brother Gene and wife Kay of St. Louis for lunch and a show. “It’s a good half way point,” she said. “We have lunch and good entertainment and a nice day of visiting.”

The Meras began their outing in Blackwater, which held their annual May Festival on Saturday. Arrow Rock and Blackwater traditionally plan the events together, billing the day as “Two great towns, two great events.”

“We thought it sounded fun so we came,” said Anne.
