Dear Boonville,

Welcome to the new Boonville Daily News.

You’ve probably noticed that we changed a few things in our print edition. I want to give major props to Erayna Martinez, who did a fabulous job giving the newspaper a makeover.

Two obvious differences come to mind. First, whereas older versions of the paper included a dominant BDN logo at the top left corner of page 1, our redesign now features the Boonville Daily News masthead in that prime spot. That’s because one of our newsroom goals is to refocus and expand our print-edition coverage of the city of Boonville. This paper has been around, in some form, since before the Civil War, so we’ll work to further that tradition of journalistic service

Don’t worry — you can still refer to us as the BDN. We’re proud to claim our logo.

The second obvious difference is that we’re now printing in two sections — one for news and one for sports. That will give sports editor Chris Bowie more freedom on the design front, and it will also allow us the option of printing the sports front in color on a regular basis.

What’s not to like about that?

Other changes include new fonts, new font sizes — the kinds of things that make designers salivate.

Really, though, those are the tweaks. We’re still focused on bringing you the news. We’re still eager to get your story ideas and eager to get your photos, articles and calendar items. This Forum page may not be where you expected to find it, but the content hasn’t changed. Same goes for the Records page.

The change doesn’t stop here. Over the next few months, we’ll be rolling out an improved Web site and another electronic project we think will give us cool opportunities to bring you even more news from outside of Boonville. More people living in more places will be able to connect with this area virtually.

Pretty neat.

Stick around. Catch up. Let us know what you like and where you’d like to see change.

With your help, we’ll keep learning and growing. It keeps us on our toes.
