Cooper's Oak Winery Boonville is set to begin operating in the old J.C. Penney building in downtown starting this spring, the city's economic development director said tonight.

Economic development director Sarah Gallagher said at tonight's City Council meeting that the new tenants were secured with the help of the Boonville Industrial Development Authority.

The winery, headquartered in Higbee, is expected to open its Boonville facility in late April or early May.

The old J.C. Penney building in downtown Boonville has stood vacant for years.
