Boonville, Mo. -

Helen Vieth will celebrate her 100th birthday on May 16. She is the youngest of eight children born to Dan and Stacy Syla near Innisfail, Alberta, Canada.

The Syla family moved to a homestead near Ronan, Mont. in 1911. In 1926, Helen graduated from Ronan High School. Later that year she moved with her parents to a farm near Rocheport, Mo. and continued her education at the University of Missouri, receiving a teaching diploma.

She taught grade school near Rocheport until 1934 when she married Wilbur Vieth and moved to a farm west of New Franklin, Mo. where three sons; Clyde, Harold and James were born.

Helen has had a long and wonderful life and her family has planned an open house on May 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Vieth farm south of Boonville to honor her. They invite all her friends to join in the celebration. If unable to attend, cards would be appreciated.

For the rest of the story, see the Monday, May 12 print edition of the BDN.
