Boonville native William Moore remembers a smaller Boonville, a place less connected than it is today. But Moore said downtown has changed very little.
When Moore visited Boonville earlier this year, many of his childhood memories came front and center to him. Moore said he remembers having a lot of fun in Boonville. Moore also remembers the jobs he had before going off to see the world after becoming a Marine.
“I reminisce about the bike with the oversize basket the folks got for me to deliver the Boonville Daily News right in my own neighborhood. I was paid ... — what was it? Oh yes — one half a cent for each paper delivered. Pay day was every two weeks. I can’t forget how good it felt to have my own money in my pocket … until my dad reminded me there was a bike to pay for,” Moore said.
